FireflyFusion’s Short Drama Production Solutions Drive 200% Revenue Surge for Malt Culture’s "NetShort"

Company NewsFebruary 24, 2025

Recently, according to data from the short drama analytics platform Guangda Da, NetShort—the translation-focused short drama platform operated by Malt Culture—has delivered outstanding performance, with its revenue in the App Store surging by 221.8% month-on-month at one point. As the partner powering Malt Culture’s dubbed drama production, the technical capabilities of FireflyFusion’s Short Drama Production Solutions have also been widely recognized.

Launched officially in July 2024, NetShort focuses on a massive library of translated short dramas, aiming to rapidly bring popular domestic titles to overseas markets and achieve genuine cultural export. The platform’s recent hit Spring Is Burning—adapted from the original Chinese drama Falling into the Spring Night—was timed for the 2025 Spring Festival season. Its overseas version began pre-release promotion as early as February 13, thanks to an extremely efficient translation process.

Behind the massive and rapid distribution of popular dramas lies the critical support of FireflyFusion’s efficient and accurate translation services. First unveiled at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai last July, FireflyFusion’s Short Drama Production Solutions provide specialized support for overseas short drama platforms, including AI line translation, seamless subtitle erasure and replacement, as well as direct access to AI translation model APIs pre-configured with short drama line translation parameters.

By developing a proprietary vertical AI translation model for short dramas and building a specialized short drama terminology database, FireflyFusion’s solutions effectively address three core challenges in short drama translation: ensuring consistency of translated content, achieving accuracy, fluency and elegance in translations, and aligning translated subtitles with precise timelines. Supporting translation into more than 30 languages, the solutions have successfully reduced short drama translation costs for overseas platforms to just 10% of traditional manual translation expenses. 640.png

Currently, NetShort’s trending titles—such as the female-led drama Spring Is Burning, the fantasy series Born With Magic, and the male-oriented professional drama The Missing Master Chef—are gaining immense popularity overseas. Notably, clip views of Born With Magic neared 40,000 within two weeks of release, far exceeding the industry average of 3,000–5,000 views. 640 (4).jpeg

In terms of revenue performance, fueled by its high-frequency updates of translated dramas and targeted marketing initiatives, NetShort recorded substantial revenue growth as early as November 2024, with its App Store revenue jumping 221.8% month-on-month.

FireflyFusion’s Short Drama Production Solutions have a long way to go in continuously empowering dubbed drama platforms to achieve stable and sustainable growth. In a recent interview, the head of the business noted that due to production cycle constraints and the current maturity level of the short drama industry, locally produced overseas original dramas still account for a small portion of content on overseas short drama platforms. Meanwhile, the 2,000–3,000 domestic short dramas produced monthly serve as a vast content reserve for short drama export.

Mastering the translation of short dramas—a niche and culturally specific genre—further reducing labor costs, and delivering greater value to the short drama industry will remain the long-term goals of FireflyFusion’s Short Drama Production Solutions.
