As China's cybersecurity laws and regulations continue to improve, public awareness of personal information protection and online fraud prevention has steadily increased. However, seniors often struggle to keep pace with rapid technological advancements, and with the rise of generative AI since 2023, scams exploiting AI technology have become increasingly common.
In response, the Financial Consumer Protection Bureau of National Financial Regulatory Administration issued guidance in 2024 to help prevent new types of telecom and online fraud, specifically highlighting the misuse of AI face-swapping and voice-cloning technologies as a rising threat. The aim is to raise societal awareness and reduce opportunities for malicious actors.
From September 9 to 15, 2024, during China Cybersecurity Week, whose theme this year is "Cybersecurity for the People, Cybersecurity by the People", QuVideo's "Class is On! Grandpa & Grandma!" held its fourth session under the theme "Smartly Prevent AI Scams: Learn Key Anti-Fraud Tips." The program took place at the Cuiyuan Community, providing seniors with hands-on experiences to understand AI-related fraud through case studies and digital AI demonstrations, helping them strengthen their online safety awareness.

During the class, volunteer instructors presented real news case videos, explaining how scammers contact consumers under the pretense of "online store customer service" or "marketing promotions," collect voice, facial, or personal information, and then use AI technologies such as face-swapping or voice-cloning to create fake audio, video, or images. These AI-generated materials are then used to impersonate others, gain trust, and solicit money from victims or their relatives.
To give seniors a more intuitive understanding of AI, volunteers brought QuVideo's proprietary digital human ("Smart Avatar") demo, allowing participants to create their own AI avatars. By recording just three seconds of movement combined with preloaded text and audio, seniors could instantly generate a lip-synced video of themselves. Many participants were amazed by the experience, which helped them grasp the dangers of "fake representations" and the importance of vigilance against fraud.

Since 2020, QuVideo's "Class is On! Grandpa & Grandma!" philanthropy program has reached communities across Hangzhou, including Yunxin, Baoting, and Cuiyuan. Through both online and offline activities, each session features a unique theme. In 2023, the focus was on cyber law awareness, while this year the program zeroes in on AI anti-fraud, combining education with interactive experiences to help seniors keep up with technological developments.
Over the past two years, QuVideo's core business has been closely tied to AI technology. The company has consistently ensured its AI applications comply with national regulations, completed multiple algorithm filings related to deep synthesis, and contributed to the development of the association standard "Compliance Guidelines for Data Application of Generative Artificial Intelligence" in the first half of 2024, aiming to lead the industry in preventing AI misuse.

Looking ahead, QuVideo's "Class is On! Grandpa & Grandma!" will continue to reach more senior communities with increasingly engaging formats, aspiring to be a trusted guardian of cybersecurity for seniors, helping them safely and enjoyably embrace the digital era.
