Uncle Beck, whose real name is Lin Yaohua, has been passionate about theater since childhood. He studied directing at the Central Academy of Drama and later moved to Taiwan, China, working as a director while teaching video production.
He quickly realized that making videos was challenging for most people. Many spent hours filming and editing, only to see results fall short of expectations. Beginners often felt overwhelmed by complex desktop software, sometimes even giving up. Determined to help his students succeed, Uncle Beck sought an easier solution.
Six years ago, he discovered VivaVideo, a mobile editing app that lowered the barriers to video creation while ensuring high-quality results. He began using it to teach mobile video editing courses, attracting students of all ages and backgrounds.
His courses are structured by video type—product ads, unboxing videos, interviews, fun videos, and vlogs, and break down key skills like choosing music, trimming clips, adding transitions and subtitles. Content is shared online via his website and YouTube, while offline classes provide hands-on guidance for camera work.
As his teaching evolved, Uncle Beck aimed to democratize video editing, allowing anyone to create compelling content. Students have applied their skills for work, family sharing, and even as social media influencers, improving lives and opening new opportunities. One memorable student from the insurance industry filmed a client's restaurant and gifted the video, strengthening their relationship.
