Wind From the Philippines: Years Later, AI Helped Me Take a Graduation Photo with My Dad

At QuVideo, we believe technology should always serve creativity—making it easier for everyone to capture life's moments and express themselves.

In our "Impress Me" series, we share inspiring stories from creators around the world. This edition features Wind, an AI Catch creator from the Philippines. 网站banner.png

One day, AI Catch's Instagram account received a tag.

The post was from Wind, a creator from the Philippines. It featured a Polaroid-style photo of a young woman in a graduation gown standing beside her father.

Except... the photo had never existed.

In her caption, Wind wrote:"This truly shows the beautiful side of AI."

Curious about the story behind the image, we reached out to her. 网站1.2.png

Wind is a content creator who enjoys sharing room makeovers and desk organization ideas on social media.

She has loved drawing and crafting since childhood, and documenting life has always been part of who she is. As a child, she filled sketchbooks with her imagination. As she grew older, her camera became the way she captured memories through carefully created videos and photos.

Yet there was one memory she never had the chance to preserve: a graduation photo with her late father.

From kindergarten through high school, her father was always there at every graduation ceremony, proudly placing medals around her neck.

So when Wind graduated from college in 2018, standing on stage in her cap and gown, she instinctively looked for the familiar face she had always expected to see.

But this time, she had to remind herself, again and again: Her father was gone.

"My dad's absence made my graduation feel incomplete," Wind recalled. "Finishing my education was always his dream for me. I studied hard because I wanted him to see me walk across that stage. But when I finally graduated... he was no longer there."

Whenever she missed him, Wind would go back to old family photos, looking through them over and over again. "I wanted to keep every memory of my dad alive."

Then one day last year, Wind discovered an AI Photo Template in AI Catch.

By simply uploading two photos, AI could create a realistic-looking picture of two people together, even if they had never actually stood side by side. She immediately thought of her father.

She searched through her phone and found an old photo taken when he attended her high school graduation. In the picture, he was smiling with pride. Wind believes that if he had been able to see her graduate from college, he would have been just as proud.

When the generated photo appeared on her screen, she couldn't hold back her emotions. "I can't even express it. When I saw the results, I felt both happy and deeply emotional." She told us that she often found herself wishing her father were still alive. It was the graduation photo she had imagined countless times, but had believed she would never have.

She showed the picture to her mother, who cried as well. Later, Wind even printed the photo on a mug. "It feels like my dad is still here with me."

Many people carry regrets with them after graduation. Some never got the chance to say goodbye. Some never took one last photo together. Others quietly keep their loved ones in their hearts.

To this year's graduates, Wind has one message: "Even if life doesn't go as planned, even if someone important couldn't be there for your biggest moments, don't lose hope. Keep moving forward and finish what you've started. Some regrets may never be undone, but love always finds another way to stay with us."
